Web Urbanist recently reported about 'Brandalism', a project where 300 hundred bus shelter ad spaces across the UK had been replaced with thought-provoking works criticizing capitalist culture by 40 street artists. The campaign is a response to the fact that the UK's advertising industry pays just under £250 per person a year in the hope of selling to them, through manipulation and consistent reminders that we as citizens "need" lots of material things.
