For my 26th Birthday my boyfriend organised for us to go to Rotterdam and stay in the brand new
Nhow hotel (as we loved the one in
Berlin so much). I had already been to Amsterdam and loved it, so I was really excited to go and see what Rotterdam had to offer in the way of sight-seeing, shopping and night life.
We arrived in the city quite early in the morning, and could see the hotel from a good few miles away in the cab (as it is gigantic). Our room wasn't ready for when we arrived so we went for a mooch over the
Erasmus bridge into the city. Luckily for us it was nice and sunny the whole weekend we were there, which made it nicer to walk around and discover new things. We walked straight into the cool district of Rotterdam, where there were hundreds of shops, eateries, bars and open art galleries to see. After stopping off to enjoy a cold drink in the sun, we continued exploring and walked right up to the waterfront where there were more lovely restaurants, and some outstandingly bazaar architecture.

We definitely wanted to check out a few clubs on our stay, and Waterfront was our first destination. The top clubs of Rotterdam all offered a selection of house, tech-house, and trance music so we were spoilt for choice considering we were only there for 2 nights.
Waterfront offered an amazing sound system, however
Perron and
Toffler (the other two big clubs) were obviously more popular. We did visit all three in the end, and Perron was definitely the best. Although I didn't know who any of the DJ's were, the club was packed within 15 minutes of opening. We also liked the fact that the clubs offered lockers instead of a cloak room, which I think is a way better idea then making people queue for ages after queuing to get into a club.

Another place we wondered to was Het park, which was a great place to relax and soak up some of the sun. On the way down there we walked along the river and saw a whole load boats, yachts, and even a pirate ship. We finished off one afternoon sitting outside
Saint Tropez, a bar that offered pumping music and a great atmosphere.

With all of the great things to see, we didn't really need a fancy hotel, however the
Nhow was out of this world. Although not yet completed, the hotel offered the most amazing views of Erasmus bridge and the city. We stayed in the
Sunset room which come with a free mini bar, mirror smart TV, massive bathroom and an extra large bed (it was really a hard room to leave). The bar on the 7th floor had a minimalistic modern feel, and the breakfast (buffet included with the room stay) was delicious and available until noon (no rushing around after a big night of dancing).
All in all I had a great time in Rotterdam. The people are extremely friendly, and it is very easy to get around (by walking, metro, tram or bicycle). I would definitely recommend a weekend visit!
