Domakaya was started up by Karima, her sister and mother. The brand was established in 2002 and is based in London UK. Karima’s mother had taught her how to knit and crochet from a young age and so Karima decided to start making hats and bags for her friends when she decided to take a gap year. Her friends loved her products and slowly word got passed around until Karima and her family decided to organise a house sale.

Domakaya specialises in the design and production of limited edition handmade knitted and crocheted accessories, and believes it is the unusual skills used that makes the products beautiful and different.
Karima gets inspiration from everywhere but mainly nature, street style, theatre and art. She loves finding old vintage pieces and elaborating on them and is constantly ripping things out of magazines and sketching in her scrap books.
