Project Hiraeth

During the first half of the 19th century, Wales was gradually being absorbed into England and so the Welsh language began to die out.

This inspired an adventurous group of 153 Welshmen and women to set sail for a new life in Argentinian Patagonia to save and hold onto what they believed in, their dying language and culture.

There are over 50,000 Welsh descendants living in Patagonia today. 12,000 still speak Welsh as their first language.

My friend Steph is diving deeper into this story by travelling to Patagonia and documenting her journey through an online diary and physical exhibition at the newly restored Cardigan castle, West Wales.

Check out the video below, and the Kickstarter page here

The Rise Of Global Fashion Weeks

'The Rise Of Global Fashion Weeks' is another interesting video from ID Magazine that explores the international fashion calendar in addition to New York, London, Paris and Milan. You may have also seen me blog about Vice Magazine who have also produced small documentaries about the un-known fashion weeks worldwide, along with the cultural and political issues that surround the local people in those areas.

Harp String DJ Booth

London design studio NEON created an interactive DJ booth instillation for DJ Alessio as part of the House Of Peroni experience. The aim was to build a collaborative architecture where the guests of the event could interact with the florescent strings to create additional noises to be mixed in the DJ set.

Drum Pants

A few months back I blogged about shoes that played alternative sounds when the wearer is walking. Today I discovered a new Kick Starter project created by Tyler Freeman called DrumPants; a wearable sensor kit that allows the user to play music by tapping or drumming on their body. The simplicity of the equipment will work perfectly for performances in the future, with users being able to adjust their own sounds via a computer.

Chunk - The 'It' Shoes

Stella McCartney designed these incredibly eye catching shoes inspired by her study of tyres for treated soles. Although tyres don't sound very interesting, these shoes are.

Because magazine quite rightly stated that they looked like school shoes from the 90's, and a shoe style that has been flooding London's streets and style blogs for the last month or so.

Classical Art Meets The Nike Swoosh

Trendland reported that the latest instalment in trend remixing is the traditional vs the commercial: Classical Art meets the Nike Swoosh logo. This is just another trending Tumblr profile that uses photoshop to create digital masterpieces, and I quite like the randomness of it.

With the heavy number of people choosing to cycle as their daily means of transport, it was only a matter of time before someone needed to create an innovative and 'trendy' way to stay safe on the road. Practically invisible and easy to wear whilst on the go, this helmet will appeal to many people in the immediate future.

Interactive Video At Its Finest

If you haven't seen it yet then hurry up and have a look at Bob Dylan's interactive video for his release of "Like a Rolling Stone". I'm personally not a big fan of the song, however the video allows you to flick through different TV channels to see well known shows and stars singing along to the song.
