The Knuckle Duster Wedding Ring

I absolutely had to share this! Made by Kate Bauman is cast in sterling silver with four 1 carat cubic zirconia, and doubles up as a knuckle duster. Similar to the already featured skeleton ring-bracelet on this blog, I think this piece screams glamour with a hint of attitude I say.

Recycled Waste Sculptures

I love these unique creations of creatures made by Chicago based jeweler Justin Gershenson. Made by watch parts and light bulbs, this is a real great use of old waste, and I can see them sporting mantle peices very quickly.

Wearable Fluorescent Lights

‘Face Normal’ are wearable fluorescent lights designed by New York based art and design duo CW&T for an awards ceremony. They turn the wearer into an impractical human torch who will no longer have to worry about attracting attention when they walk into a dimly lit bar or club.

Slightly over the top, but a cool idea. Check out more on The Creators Project

Loungewear Turned Chic

Metaphoric by Australian duo Mark and Julia create gender-free designs that include elongated hemlines, wide panels, native patterns, and muted undertones. Looking at this I instantly think loungewear vs high fashion as the collection also features maxi dresses and tailored shirts. I love the effortlessness here, especially the cut out leggings and crop top combo. Check out the whole collection at Trendland.

Backpacks & Clubs: Fashion Nightmare:

This is a topic that has been annoying my friends and me for a while now. Why do people insist on keeping their fully loaded backpacks on whilst in bars, and especially in clubs?

I know backpacks have regained popularity due to more fashionable designs, and convenience; but please notice that the majority of stylish establishments do allow customers to use a cloakroom.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that you need to carry your stuff around with you; but I just don’t want to be squashed into it when I’m trying to walk around or dance.

……..Maybe I should give them a taste of their own medicine and wear this wire Eastpak bag next time I go out?

Jewellery Crush: Astley Clarke

Astley Clarke challenges the preconceptions of fine jewellery by experimenting with different materials to create a whole range of fine luxury pieces. I really like the impact of the designs, and the juxtaposition of the delicate and clunky shapes.

Check out some of my favourite bracelets below and visit the website to enjoy browsing a wide range of dazzling products. Additionally, follow on Twitter for up to date information on promotions and event activity (@AstleyClarke)

Beware Of Online Filter Bubbles

Today I watched a very interesting Ted video from the playlist; Our Digital Lives, that challenges the internet's increasingly evolving algorithms to the way individual users get information.

As a growing social consultant I am increasingly interested in the ways in which online platforms are changing experiences on a personalised basis, however it now seems as though this may be holding back content that is still important but seen as less relevant via tools that monitor somebody's online behaviour.

Facebook is a great example discussed in the video as it is used by millions of people everyday. Due to the algorithms updates on this platform brands and users now have to put aside budgets to promote their updates, users have to manually change settings to ensure they get these updates, and all in all it is becoming a harder and more complicated network to use effectively.

Eli Pariser explains that we are all in our own online filter bubbles and that we should be having more control on what we want to let in and what to leave out instead of it being automatically decided for us.

I found this video very informative, and Iam sure this technique will be discussed further in the future.

Concrete Ready-to-Wear

I found this whilst reading my Yatzer newsletter this morning and thought it was really chic. Ivanka, a world known design company for concrete has designed a fashion line of clothing and accessories made out of concrete.

With strong architectural influence, these pieces look really high end. I think these alternative textile designs will go far.

A Different Type Of Lookbook

Brands are forever in the competition of creating compelling stories and authentic assets more marketing and revenue purposes, and therefore we are seeing an ever increasing flow of creativity when it comes to product promotion.

Recently I blogged about Bernhard Willhelm , Geoffrey Lillemon and Random Studio's surreal fashion GIFS, and now The Creators Project have exhibited a new video by Illustrated People promoting their latest collection.

This second life, virtual inspired fantasy land gives the brand a unique feel. What do you think? Check out the video below.

The Twitter Dress

Now here is a cool wearable tech trend I found on Fashioning Tech; The Twitter dress was recently worn by Nicole Scherzinger at a launch party in London.

The dress is made from french silk chiffon, Swarovski crystals and a whole load of LEDs that displayed tweets in real time.

These are made to order by hand on Brackish, and are cut from shimmering pheasant or turkey feathers.

Perfume Trinkets

Now people can wear perfume, without having to wear perfume....

Designer Jody Kocken has developed a range of fragrance diffusers that can be worn by people with perfume allergies, allowing scents to travel when warmed up.

This is not only a practical idea for those not wanting contact to the skin, but a quirky and fashionable new way to project chosen smells.

Mr Brainwash

A few months back I went to Holborn to see the Mr Brainwash exhibition which was really eye catching and interesting. There were many uses of ironic images and some comic social status symbolism within the work on display.

Vivid colours, along with pop art, music, and political inspiration really brought the work to life.

Within entry attendees received a signed graffiti can, and free prints were given out when exiting.

Decorating Just Got More Customised

I have recently moved in with my boyfriend and also closer to central London which is amazing, and additionally to that we have a whole flat as a black canvas to do whatever we want with!

The openness to choice is amazing, however I haven't had the chance to decorate before and therefore feel slightly overwhelmed.

I come across this brilliant idea on Weburbanist today and needed to share. I will definitely be looking out for one of these! So simple, yet so elegant.
